Emptiness wrapped in words?

What is the relation between words and emptiness? Words cannot describe emptiness. By definition itself, emptiness cannot be put into words. Concepts are based on words. Whenever we name, we give a label, the object turns into a concept and this is called conceptualization. We attach a name to a form and that becomes a concept. Concepts are stored in our mind. We use those concepts while thinking. Why is 'thinking' a barrier to self-realization? Truth cannot be defined by concepts. And our mind works only on concepts. If we can give a name to something, it cannot be Truth. Emptiness gives birth, or say, makes space for thoughts. Emptiness is like the white, blank background of a page that we miss to acknowledge. All the thoughts are like words written on the page. Words are content, it will be changing based on the perspective. Truth is unchanging emptiness. Our life situation is also like the content, keeps on changing and moving. Life situations include all that we engage in ...

Transcend Suffering With Acceptance

Whenever we suffer it is due to some kind of hidden resistance. Resistance simply means we are not accepting the moment. The ideas that are popping up in our head are anti-Now. In other words, we don't want situation the way it is right now. We want it to change.  We want something else, something aligned with the wishes of the ego/self. We want to turn the situation to our benefit. Who has this desire of changing the situation? The ego, meaning, self identified with the body. Why does it have this desire? Because it wants to survive. It derives its existence from pleasures. It thrives on so-called happy moments of life. It constantly seeks for the same pleasures again and again. If it doesn't get this pleasure it feels pain. Human life is entirely based on running away from pain and desiring pleasures. We can divide our experiences into two categories - wanted and unwanted experiences. How to transcend and overcome this unconscious cycle of pleasure and pain? Try accepting the...

Roles Vs True Identity

Ever thought that our identity is distinct from the roles we play? In our lives, we all play different roles. Every new phase of life demands us to get into a fresh role. Gender, professional, and familial are a few striking roles that most of us play. Very often it happens that we attach ourselves to roles so much that we can't see and think beyond them. And all of this happens unconsciously. For example, a girl makes a career choice, she opts for a teaching profession, now she considers herself a teacher all throughout her life until she retires. In her mind, her image of being a human and her role has been intertwined. She can't see her separately from her role. She has accepted the role so much that she can't make a distinction any longer. Like that, a man thinks himself to be a husband, and with that comes new responsibilities. But who has got these roles, and responsibilities? The person. We never try to dig deeper and find our real existence. We are not the roles, th...

Exploring Fear

The truth is that the fundamental driving force of the majority of humans is fear. Without fear, we don't even feel motivated to do anything. Desire also drives us. However, I'll not cover desire in this article. Today psychology also proves fear is essential for making people do certain things. Although not a healthy emotion, it proves to be useful in controlling people. Mind you, control is not always bad. The people who are unaware of the consequences and live in their dream world need a simple dose of fear from time to time. Let's say there is no punishment for traffic offenses, it's natural that nobody will wear a helmet, or everyone will drive fast. Most of us don't think about the negative consequences of forthcoming situations. In cases like these fear is necessary, essentially when people don't tend to think for their own good Our society mostly has followers, who blindly accept the herd mentality. A part of the reason is that man is a social animal. On...

A Guide To Meditation

Once meditated for a considerable period, you witness your thoughts not getting influenced by them. Thoughts will just be like a movie in your mind, which is far from you, and you being the controller of that movie. Meditation has a lot more benefits besides making your mind a slave. Unnecessary thoughts ruin our energy and prevent us from living conscious (full of choice) lives. Meditate today and start taking full charge of your life.  The truth is, we can't really complain about a bad life if the choices we have been making are wrong. Often, we don't like to use our time for our well-being and self-growth, blaming others for our unhappiness or thinking the nature of life is less pleasant in itself. Life can be much more beautiful if you craft it well. Realize, your life is completely your making.  ------ I've been meditating for more than a year now. I know a very easy-to-do meditation technique for beginners. It shows significant results in a short period. Anyone who wi...

Why Is There Suffering When God Exists?

Here is a short story for you! Once there was a barber, and a client came to his shop. The client wanted to have a haircut and a tuft at the back of his head. The barber asked why you wanted a tuft. The client answered, he believed in God, and as a devotee, he wanted to keep a tuft.  He didn't believe in God. He was skeptical. He asked the client why there is so much suffering, if there is God. People are suffering from mental and physical diseases, attachments and so on. The client remained silent. After paying his bills, he went out.  Then after a while, the client started shouting there is no barber in the town. The barber came out of his shop. And asked the barber, what are you saying, I am here, I just gave you a haircut! The client replied look at that beggar, he didn't have his hair cut. He had a big beard and dirty looks. If the barber really would have existed, this man wouldn't be in such a shabby state. Now the barber understood the logic.  If we don't ap...

Virtues

Let's go back to history and learn from Mahatma Gandhi. He have given us some of the precious lessons of life.  We can learn so much from Gandhi, he not only played a major role in making the country free from rulers but also had a great control over his mind.  He had virtues like honesty and non-violence, that gave him the unwavering confidence to fight for the country and these values proved that he had conquered his mind.  And that's why the saying, the one who has conquered his mind, can conquer the world. Gandhiji is the real-life example. One who has developed his mind, like Gandhiji, with virtues and having sharp intellect can attain anything in this world. These virtues in heart and sharp intellect is a requirement for spiritual seekers to progress in the path of Realization.

Be Limitless!

Stop Limiting Life's Possibility. Realize the full potential of what it means to be a human. Don't allow yourself to be just a little part of this universe. Open up all the possibilities of a joyful life, that this birth can offer. Being a human gives you a good chance to be aware of who you really are. Life isn't all about compulsiveness, which means, I need to do this and that to be joyful. But it should be ecstatic and effortless. That's how our real nature is.  Because of our limited knowledge, we only know and find happiness in possessions. Acquiring more wealth and more status, becomes the aim of life. We never think, where is the satisfaction lost in this rat race. Discovering the best human possibility is the goal of this life. To find that, one must work on oneself, understand mind/ego and how nature works. How this universe is aligned to make this magnificent existence possible.  Limited goals in life, will only give you limited results. Aim a blissful life, a...

Play The Game Of Life Wisely

"When the world says give up, hope whispers try it one more time.” - Anonymous When people out there criticize you or put you down, never ever lose hope. Always hope to succeed, not now, but soon.  Why do we compromise for a mediocre lives, why can't we dream big. Just because of our mindset, which has been influenced by society. The societal norms curbs your wishes. People don't want you to earn more, live like you want. That's the reality. Facing this reality, becomes a challenge for many. Again their limited mindset stops them. They just agree, without questioning others. Are you one of them? Apart from your family, no one gives a damn to what happens to you next. It's the truth. Can't believe it? Say to your friend, you have lost  all your money, will she help you? If yes, upto what extent. It's only you who are responsible for a good life. Depending on others for making your life, is mere foolishness.  Just be responsible for your life, your life is ...

Can You Hold A Moving Stream?

Attachment with the temporary can only give you pain. Attachment with the permanent will give you real satisfaction.  We seek name, fame, money, acceptance and respect from others. Not knowing it's all temporary, and will not stay for long. Yet we tend to seek it because of our conditioning.  Transcend your desires, let go of the temporary attachments. And only there you will find peace.  Everything in the world is temporary, flows like a river. Can you hold a fast moving stream? No. Same way you can't expect peace in an ever changing world.  Find that which never changes!

Today, let's be grateful!

For a beautiful birth in human form, for a filled stomach, for mind to think rationally and choose what is right and wrong, for a healthy body, for your loved ones and this list is endless. Just by thinking about this, we feel blessed.  We often forget in this continuous effort of reaching heights, where are we. What journeys we have made, what struggles we have faced. Be grateful to this moment, you have overcome many obstacles to live this life.  Being thankful for this day, means that you appreciate this life. What can be more beautiful than this! Not running after people and possessions, and being in a state of satisfaction feels so good. It's a treasure we all have, yet we lack the wisdom to use it. So, just thank everyone around yourself, for being alive and being with you. Be grateful for this life. There are people who are losing it right now. You just appreciate it!

Does man have a choice?

Y ou think you have a choice. But unfortunately, you don't have any. Can you stop acting out of your compulsions? Are your choices conscious? We act only in the manner, others want us to act like. We just reciprocate. Never did anything out of love.  I sometimes wonder, is there any difference between humans and animals. The difference is only in our thoughts, in our mind. We just act in subtle ways. In reality, when we act through our ego, we are no less than animals. They hurt, we hate. They eat, we dominate. Being choiceless, we suffer. Accepting this reality, can bring a true change.

Fall In Love With Taking Care Of Yourself!

Just being with yourself is bliss! Ever tried? Being with friends is easy, but being with the most beautiful person on Earth, (obviously, it's You!) is a must.  Taking care of this person who has to face big challenges of life, is of utmost importance. When will you grab the chance to grow into a new version of yourself? Read that book, take a shower, write diaries, do what your heart says. Now here 'your' is important. Not of your partner or any friend but 'Your'. We often lead our lives to impress others. And keep on repeatedly thinking, what others will think of us. All our desires to live a life in our own terms get suppressed. Then we later regret how monotonous our lives have become. But we don't realize, we have made such choices unintentionally and intentionally, that affect our present lives. So, just be grateful for this moment, and pamper yourself with the love you deserve.

Great Words Of A Taoist!

"To knowledge add things everyday, to attain wisdom, remove things everyday" - Lao tzu It can be interpreted as, 'add' means attaining more knowledge. Which only adds to your ego, and makes you full of pride. 'I know' is the biggest hindrance in your spiritual growth. That's ego.  If you really know, then your life must be managed properly and joyously. But it's not like that. You are in confusion, life is in conflict.  On the other hand, when you 'remove' things which means, let yourself free and accept that you don't know. And then you are willing to change. This willingness to change, will be a catalyst to your growth. When there is change, only then improvement is possible. Same with your life. So, don't be afraid of change.  Removing what isn't needed. Removing all the prejudices, assumptions related to life. Which isn't helping you to grow. Remove this ego. Remove your illusionary identities.  Today, accept that you don...

Be Conscious Always!

Be conscious of your life!  If you criticize somebody or pay attention to other's flaws, somehow or other you are inculcating their values in yourself. Because, what you think, you became that. That's why it is said, we should also be non-violent in our thoughts, apart from being non-violent in our deeds.  Every bad thought for anyone, actually grows your negativity as you accept it and as it is in your mind. It hampers your mindset, your happiness. No matter how terribly others behave, you need to keep in check your thoughts. You always have a choice to be mindful. Which is, to think about them or not. Indeed, you are what you think. So be conscious of what's going on in your head.  As it makes your life.

Pearls of Wisdom

• Live morality before you talk of it. Practise meditation before you preach it. Taste goodness before you recommend it. Gain bliss before you offer it to others. • Mind at rest is the Temple of Joy. So long as it is gurgling with its desires, passions and attachments in its stormy surface, the signature of joy gets ruffled out. • To define God is to defile God. • Temper takes you to Trouble, Pride keeps you there. • Mind can make a hell of heaven or a heaven of hell. • Don’t put the key to your happiness in someone else’s pocket. • Sin is never in action, it is always in reaction. • The spirit of Advaita is not to keep away from anything, but to keep in tune with everything. ~Swami Chinmayananda

Surrender & Freedom!

How to truly surrender? Let your desires get aligned with God's will. Whatever happens in your life is perfect and that happens according to God's wish. Just let go of what you think is right and wrong, good and bad, and let magic of faith work. If you really believe in God, you would also know he loves you abundantly. And how can a loving God do anything bad to you. That's how life is happening perfectly. We don't know yet how that works. Devote yourself in such a way, where you are no more. Your desires, wishes, anxieties are of no value to you. It doesn't matter if anything happens according to your wishes or not. You just let God rule over your life. Only then you can unleash yourself.  Why do we suffer? We suffer only because we think life should happen according to our ways. That's not the way of a spiritual seeker, especially a devotee. If you really know God is there with you, how can you even think about your well being or worry about anything in life. ...

Meaning of Religion

Here we present ideas and insights on religion by Hindu saints! Swami Sivananda The word Religion comes from the Latin word religio which consists of two words, viz., re (back) and ligare (to bring or bind). That which binds the soul back to God is religion. Religion shows the way for the attainment of God-realisation. Religion satisfies the deep inward craving in man who is not always content with leading merely an animal existence and wants spiritual consolation, solace and peace. Man cannot live by bread alone. A time comes in the life of many of us when mere worldly prosperity does not satisfy us and we hanker after something more. In the case of many more, trials and tribulations of life turn their attention to spiritual solace. Swami Vivekananda According to Swami Vivekananda, experience is the best source of knowledge. He suggested the way a chemistry or biology student reads book on those subjects, if someone wants to learn about religion, he has to read his own mind and heart....

A Reflection to our Notions

It's Shivratri today.  All over people are celebrating with great enthusiasm. They are visiting temples and performing various rituals. Do they know what they are doing? Are they contemplating or just following what the trend says. Religion has its own significance when it comes to changing life for better. Hindu culture is also very scientific and has rational roots. And other religions are no less. They have their own value. One has to read the scriptures to deeply know what religion is all about. Else people need a chance to do politics. Religion is no exception.  The concept of God has become a means to fight. Only because of lacking love for everyone. If we loved our neighbour then we loved God too.  It's not every time about 'me and mine'. My God, your God. God is not a possession. In the name of religion today we fight. Not knowing the scriptures, which are the basis of all religion, says the same. Not even a single scripture of any religion tells us to fight. Ye...
